Welcome to Unison! These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Unison (sometimes referred to herein as “Services”), a software service provided by Rotunda Software, LLC (sometimes referred to herein as "Company," "we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using Unison, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use Unison.
Mission and Purpose
Unison helps organizations, their leaders, administrators, owners, and other individuals who create, manage, or administer accounts on behalf of those organizations, together with the individuals who participate in or are managed through the Services (collectively, “Users”), schedule, organize, and communicate with one another.
Unison offers a collection of services designed to streamline volunteer management, including but not limited to:
- Scheduling Users for roles, shifts, or events.
- Organizing Users and resources efficiently.
- Providing communication tools that allow Users to share information.
- Providing a platform for Users to engage with volunteer opportunities.
Your use of and access to Unison indicates that you acknowledge, agree to comply with, and be bound by these Terms of Service. By accessing Unison or any of its Services—regardless of whether you register—you are entering into a legally binding agreement with the Company. If you do not agree with these Terms of Service or our Privacy Policy, you should not use, register for, or access Unison. These Terms of Service apply to all Users.
Use of Data and User Information
We are not in the business of selling your information. We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information, nor information about any Users.
Unison does not host paid advertising and does not use or sell personal data for targeted advertising purposes. We take significant measures to protect the personal data you provide against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Please review our Privacy Policy for additional details.
Our Terms
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to:
- Modify or replace these Terms of Service.
- Change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services.
Your continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Some Services may be subject to additional terms from third-party providers (e.g., payment processors). Your use of such Services is subject to those providers’ terms.
Use of Services
By using Unison, you agree not to use the Services for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms. You are responsible for all activity connected with your account. Prohibited activities include (but are not limited to):
- Posting or transmitting unlawful, abusive, defamatory, fraudulent, obscene, or offensive content.
- Infringing intellectual property rights.
- Sending spam, unsolicited communications, or using unapproved contact lists.
- Attempting to bypass security measures or disrupt the Services.
- Using the Services to create a competing product.
Currently, Unison is not available for use in the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA).
Communication and Sharing
Unison provides a platform for information sharing and communication. You agree not to submit content that infringes third-party rights unless you have proper authorization. If you wish to keep information confidential, do not post it within Unison. We are not responsible for misuse of information shared by Users.
Content Removal
We reserve the right, at any time and for any reason, to:
- Remove or block Users or User submissions.
- Delete, edit, or modify any content.
- Terminate a User’s use of Unison for knowingly submitting false, misleading, or harmful content.
Account Suspension and Termination
Unison prohibits spam and misuse. Accounts may be suspended or terminated if we determine that you:
- Use purchased, rented, or third-party contact lists.
- Send communications to Users without verifiable consent.
- Engage in spam as defined by industry standards (e.g., Spamhaus).
Violations may result in immediate suspension or termination without refund.
Payment
All fees are quoted in U.S. dollars. Users are responsible for timely payment of all fees with a valid payment method.
- If a User exceeds their plan limits, they will be prompted to upgrade their account.
- If usage decreases to a lower plan level, the change will occur at the end of the billing cycle. No refunds or credits will be issued for downgrades.
Registration
You may browse certain areas of Unison without registering, but some features require an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date registration information.
- Keep your login credentials secure.
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account use.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel account registrations at our discretion.
Third-Party Sites and Providers
Unison may link to or integrate with third-party websites and services. These are outside our control, and we are not responsible for their content, policies, or functionality. Use of third-party services is at your own risk.
We currently engage with providers such as Amazon Web Services, Hubspot, Mailchimp, Twilio, SendGrid, and Google Analytics. By using Unison, you agree to their respective terms and policies.
Accreditation and Trademarks
You may not use Unison’s name, logos, or trademarks without our prior written permission.
Content and License
Content on Unison is protected by copyright and other rights. Unless explicitly permitted, you may not reproduce, distribute, or exploit content for commercial purposes.
By submitting content, you grant the Company a license to use, display, and distribute it as necessary to operate and market the Services. You retain ownership of your content, subject to this license.
Termination
We may terminate or suspend your access to Unison at any time, without notice, for violation of these Terms or for any other reason. You may close your account at any time by following the instructions within Unison. All fees paid are non-refundable.
Disclaimers
Unison is provided “as is” and “as available.” We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that the Services will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or meet your requirements. Your use is at your sole risk.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Company and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from:
- Your use or misuse of the Services.
- Your violation of these Terms.
- Your infringement of third-party rights.
Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
You agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of Unison shall first be attempted to be resolved informally by contacting us at help@unison.io. If the matter is not resolved within thirty (30) days, it shall be settled by binding arbitration in Orinda, California, administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules. Judgment on the arbitration award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.
You and the Company agree that:
- Any arbitration shall be conducted in your individual capacity only, and not as a class action or other representative action.
- You expressly waive your right to file a class action or seek relief on a class basis.
If arbitration is deemed unenforceable for any reason, the parties consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Contra Costa County, California.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Company and its affiliates shall not be liable for:
- Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
- Data loss, lost profits, or replacement costs.
- Issues caused by third-party services or User disputes.
Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed fifty U.S. dollars ($50.00 USD).
Privacy Policy
Overview
We value your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. We do not sell or trade personal information about you or any Users with third-party services.
This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes the information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data. By using Unison’s services, websites, or applications (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
Personal Data We Collect
When you use our Services, we may collect and retain information that identifies Users, including:
- Names
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
This information is referred to in this Policy as “Personal Data.” We store Users’ Personal Data on secure servers. By providing Personal Data, you consent to its use in accordance with this Policy.
How We Use Your Personal Data
We may use Personal Data for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain our Services, including volunteer scheduling, communication, and organization.
- To communicate with you about your account, usage, and support needs.
- To improve and personalize our Services.
- For marketing purposes, such as sending newsletters or product updates (with the ability to opt out at any time).
- To analyze how Users access and use our Services for research and development.
Transfer of Personal Data
Your Personal Data may be transferred to and maintained on servers located outside your state, province, or country, where privacy laws may not provide the same protections. By using our Services, you consent to such transfers.

We do not sell or trade your Personal Data. We may share it in limited circumstances, including:
- Service Providers: We may engage trusted third-party vendors to support our business operations (e.g., hosting, payment processing, tech support, analytics). We only provide the information necessary for them to perform their functions.
- Integrated Services: Some portions of Unison rely on integrated third-party services, subject to their own privacy policies.

Examples of third-party providers include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Hubspot, Authorize.net, Twilio, Zendesk, and Google Analytics.
SMS Consent & Privacy
We will not share mobile information or phone numbers with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers may be used for customer service and support functions. Opt-in data and consent for text messaging will not be shared with third parties.
Non-Identifiable Data
We may collect and use aggregated or non-identifiable information (e.g., demographics, interests, usage behavior) to better understand our Users and improve our Services. This information may be shared with third parties for business or research purposes.
Log Data
We collect information about interactions with our Services, such as:
- IP addresses
- Browser type and settings
- Operating system
- Referring and exit pages
- Device and application IDs
- Search terms
- Cookie data
This data helps us maintain, debug, and improve the Services.
Testimonials
With your consent, we may publish testimonials that include your name. You may request removal at any time by contacting us at help@unison.io.
Children Under 13
Unison does not knowingly collect Personal Data directly from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect Personal Data from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.
